St. Pius X Food Pantry
In the spirit of Catholic Social Teaching and our patron Saint Pius X, our parish operates a community food pantry serving families in need throughout the Norfolk area. We believe that feeding the hungry is a direct expression of our faith in action.

Who We Serve
The St. Pius X Food Pantry is open to anyone in need — no registration, no proof of income required. We welcome individuals and families from all backgrounds and faiths. On a typical week, we serve dozens of households from across the greater Norfolk community.
What We Provide
- Non-perishable canned goods (vegetables, fruits, beans, soups)
- Dry goods (pasta, rice, cereal, oatmeal)
- Bread and baked goods (when available)
- Hygiene products and household essentials
- Baby food and formula (when donated)
- Fresh produce (seasonally, through donations)
How to Donate
Our pantry is sustained entirely by the generosity of parishioners and the wider community. There are several ways to contribute:
- Drop-off donations: Non-perishable food items may be left in the collection bins in the church vestibule anytime the church is open.
- Financial donations: Monetary donations allow us to purchase items in bulk. Give online or by check to "St. Pius X Parish — Food Pantry."
- Most-needed items: Canned protein (tuna, chicken, beans), peanut butter, cooking oil, coffee, and hygiene items are always in demand.
Volunteer
The Food Pantry relies entirely on volunteers to sort donations, stock shelves, and assist clients on Saturday mornings. To volunteer, contact the parish office at 757-583-0291 or speak with the Ministry Director after any Sunday Mass.
