Confirmation
Confirmation is the sacrament through which the Holy Spirit comes to us in a special way, strengthening us to live our faith boldly as mature disciples of Jesus Christ. It completes the grace of Baptism and fully incorporates us as active members of the Church.

The Sacrament
In Confirmation, the candidate receives the anointing with sacred Chrism oil and the laying on of hands by a bishop (or his delegate). The candidate chooses a Confirmation name β typically a saint's name β to inspire their Christian life. A sponsor (usually a confirmed, practicing Catholic) accompanies the candidate throughout preparation.
Preparation Program
Our two-year Confirmation preparation program is coordinated through our youth ministry in partnership with the SPX Youth Group. The program includes:
- Weekly sessions on Catholic teaching, Scripture, and sacramental theology
- Retreat experiences (day retreats and an overnight retreat)
- Community service requirements (minimum 10 hours per year)
- Attendance at Sunday Mass throughout the preparation period
- A personal interview with the pastor prior to Confirmation
Sponsor Requirements
A Confirmation sponsor must be:
- A confirmed, practicing Catholic in good standing
- At least 16 years of age
- Not the parent of the candidate
- A member of the Catholic Church (not another Christian denomination)
Adult Confirmation
Adults who were baptized Catholic but never confirmed may receive the sacrament through our RCIA program or through a separate adult preparation process. Please contact the parish office for more information.
