Matthew 8:5-17

The gentile soldier is well versed in issuing verbal commands and believes wholeheartedly that Jesus has the power to heal his servant by his word. Jesus, amazed by this non-Jew’s faith, tells his followers that this man’s belief far surpasses that of the chosen people.

I cannot help but think about the stories of faith shared by those seeking initiation in the Church. Their faith far surpasses mine, Lord. They are gift to me and to the Church.
