Baptism

“Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of God” (Luke 18:16)

Parents: All couples who plan to have their child baptized should notify the parish office at the beginning of the pregnancy and register for Baptism Preparation class. Sponsors should be carefully selected and must be 16 years old and confirmed. Non-practicing, fallen away Catholics are not eligible for sponsorship, even if they are a close relative/friend. To schedule an appointment, call 757-583-0291.

Schedule: Baptisms are scheduled after the 5 pm Mass on Saturdays or the 10:30 am Mass on Sundays.

Reconciliation: Every Saturday 3:45pm-4:45pm or on weekdays by appointment.

Eucharist: following Church Law, First Eucharist is received at 7 years old.  Here at St. Pius X the family must be registered parishioners and the child must attend the 2 year program according to Diocesan guidelines to receive the Sacrament.  The children receive First Communion during the Easter Season

Confirmation: The Richmond diocese celebrates this Sacrament at the age of 15 years. The family must be registered parishioners and the teenagers attend the 2 year program according to Diocesan guidelines to receive the Sacrament. The Diocese sets the schedule to receive the Sacrament for all the parishes.

Marriage:Couples planning to marry, should contact the Parish Office SIX MONTHS prior to the wedding date. Wedding times are Saturdays at either 10:00am, 11:00am or 1:00pm.

Sacrament of the Sick: The Sacrament of the Sick may be celebrated by appointment made through the Parish Office.
